Casela, the famous animal and adventure park in Mauritius is the main attraction and one of the most visited zoos in the Indian Ocean.
It offers an interesting and fun experience for adventurers of all ages.
The entrance ticket includes a range of activities such as a safari, encounter with felines, walk in the aviary park with more than 1500 birds and the only dry slides of the island.
Quad biking, buggy, Segway, horseback riding, camel riding, zip lines, canyoning are other available activities that require advance booking to guarantee participation.
Salt production started during the French period and today this tradition dates back almost two centuries and the process has not changed much.
Salt production in Mauritius is done in salt cellars; These are small, square and shallow cobblestone pools that are filled with seawater.
Most of the salt cellars are in Tamarin, on the west coast of the island, where the hot and dry environment provides the ideal conditions for salt making.
They cover an area of about 30 hectares and produce about 4,000 tons of salt.
Martello Tower was built during British colonization, to protect against attacks.
With its round structure and very thick volcanic rock walls, it was resistant to cannon fire. Located opposite La Preneuse beach, on the west coast of the island, the Martello tower was renovated in the late 1990s and turned into a museum.
It has been restored to its original structure. Guided tours are conducted to explain the importance of this tower.
La Preneuse is a small bay with a superb beach to relax. Possessing a white sand beach surrounded by clear blue water and a coral reef, La Preneuse gives a magnificent view of Le Morne Brabant.
The beach is most enjoyable in the afternoon when the shallow water is still warm enough with the heat of the day, especially in the afternoon to watch the spectacular sunset.
The old cannons that are present along the beach mark the trip to the time of piracy and invasions by enemy ships.
La Preneuse beach is far from noise and mass tourism and remains a calm and ideal place.
