The Morne Brabant Peninsula

Le Morne Brabant is the most stunning mountain (556 m) from which this beautiful peninsula takes its name.

Shaped like a hammerhead shark, the peninsula itself has some of the best beaches on the island.

It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 in recognition of its place of refuge for freed slaves in the early 18th century.

The place has been the vibrant center for Creole culture for over two centuries

Maconde Viewpoint

Macondé is a small rocky peak located between Le Morne and Baie du Cap.

It offers a spectacular landscape dominated by the waves and the wild beauty of the southern part of Mauritius.

From this bridge, visitors can enjoy stunning views of this barrier-free stretch of the south coast.

Rochester Fall

Very popular for its rectangular side rocks, Rochester Falls is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Mauritius.

The waterfall is located on the Savanne River, at an altitude of 152 meters above sea level, about 2.5 km from Souillac (the capital of the Savanne district), and it tumbles from a height approximately 10 m (33 ft).

The fresh water of the river lets visitors enjoy a refreshing swim.

Gris-Gris Cliffs

Gris-Gris is best known for its magnificent view of its cliffs overlooking the south coast of the island.

Unlike other coasts, this part of the coast is not surrounded by coral reefs. Thus thick waves break directly on the cliffs which offers an impressive view.

The most spectacular part of Gris-Gris is the ‘Roche qui pleure’ the constant squashing of the waves against the sides of the cliff gives the impression that the cliff is crying from which the name comes.

Crocodile Park and Giant Tortoises

Crocodile Park is home to the largest captive group of Aldabra giant tortoises in the world.

It is even home to around 2000 Nile Crocodiles as well as other animals like monkeys, iguanas, bats, deer, geckos, eels, wild boars and Caimans.

The park has one of the largest insectariums with a collection of 23,000 species collected from different parts of the world.
